Have your say:

National Historic Landmark status proposed for Ōamaru’ Historic Town Centre and Port

Please take a moment to show your support and help ensure Ōamaru’s heritage
continues to be recognised and valued nationally along side some of
New Zealand’s most important heritage sites.

Our vision is to ...

Establish Oamaru as a heritage destination by bringing alive and preserving New Zealand’s best complete collection of Victorian buildings.

To do this we need your help!

With sixteen heritage buildings, and over 8000 square metres of roof and 12,500 square metres of floor space we need your support to continue to preserve, restore and maintain this important part of our
New Zealand heritage.

Please help us do this.

You can make a donation.

Each of the buildings owned by the Trust has it's own story, character and charm. Each building also costs a lot of money to preserve, restore and keep maintained.

Your support enables the Trust to do this.

Thank you.

You can leave a bequest.

We welcome all gifts, large or small.

You don’t need a lot of money to leave a gift to the Oamaru Whitestone Civic Trust. Any financial donation to our Legacy Fund will be appreciated and used wisely.

Money from bequests are particularly valuable to us for maintaining and interpreting our heritage properties and maintaining our collection of historic and precious items.

Remember, gifts left to charities in wills are exempt from any inheritance or capital gains tax.

There are four main types of gifts you can leave to a charity. Talk to your lawyer about what suits you and your estate best.

Bequests: a gift of property or money given through a will following someone's death.

Residual: The remainder of your estate after considering your loved ones.

Pecuniary or specific: A specified gift which can be money, property or stocks and shares.

Whole estate: This comprises your entire estate and is usually left by those without beneficiaries or those wanting to achieve something very significant.

If you wish to talk to us directly regarding a possible gift
(either under your will or during your lifetime)
please contact our Property Manager Jacob Barwick
and he will arrange for one of the Trustees to contact you directly.
